The Board of Education acted on a budget reduction plan at the March 26 regular meeting.  Over 100 stakeholders turned out to address the Board or listen to the discussion surrounding potential Transportation Fees and the proposed budget reductions. The Board voted not to impose Transportation Fees but did approve the reduction plan which had been discussed over the course of multiple open meetings.  This action was necessary to help overcome the nearly $1 million current year deficit and increasing expenditures expected for school year 2014-2015....SEE MORE...

LEADER IN ME
It is with great excitement and pride that we announce that Lochbuie has received a grant from the

"I am a Leader Foundation!"
"With the help of the” I am a Leader Foundation,” Lochbuie will begin a journey to become a Leader in Me School!   We will begin our journey with a three day whole staff training this summer. The entire staff will spend three action packed days learning about The Seven Habits of Highly successful people and how to teach these habits to our students. Then look out, because the staff will begin working on ways to infuse what we learned into everything we do here at Lochbuie Elementary School.
“The Leader in Me draws on the world-class content and tools of FranklinCovey, including the The 7 Habits of Highly effective People, which staff, students and parents adopt as a common language.”
The first steps for both staff and students is to learn the 7 Habits. These habits will begin to guide everything we do and be intertwined with reading, writing, science, math, art, music, social studies and physical education. The seven habits are:
1.       Be Proactive: You’re in Charge
2.       Begin with the end in Mind: Have a Plan
3.       Put First things First: Work first then Play
4.       Think Win-Win: Everyone Can Win
5.       Seek First to Understand then to be Understood: Listen before you talk
6.       Synergize: Together is better
7.       Sharpen the Saw: Balance Feels best
We pursued this grant and opportunity because we feel very strongly that all of the Lochbuie students are leaders. They deserve the very best education that we can offer. This exciting program will allow us to continue on the path of academic rigor and add leadership education to all students in the building.
As our journey continues we will keep parents and community members up to date on our progress. If you have any questions please let us know. We would love to tell you more about this exciting adventure
